XP Computers works with home users & small businesses, to provide a complete computer support service in East Hertfordshire.

Based in Hertford since 2003, we have built up a solid client base of regular customers & repeat business due to competitive pricing, quality of work done, and the friendly service. We rely mainly on word-of-mouth for our advertising, which has continued to work well for us.

We have a couple of laptop specialities we've developed to meet local demand:

We charge J30 per hour for all computer repair & consultancy.
There is no "call out charge" for jobs in the Hertford area (or for computers brought to Bengeo),

Outside Hertford region we charge a callout fee based upon J7.50 per 15 mins return travelling time.

However, in these cases, remote internet & telephone support, often enables us to resolve simple software problems using our remote support software. With your permission, you can allow us to see your screen & move your mouse over the internet, whilst we explain what we are doing over the phone. This is an excellent way to reduce costs and downtime for simple jobs that would otherwise incur a callout fee.

Speciality: Laptop DC power sockets replaced or resoldered. J85 inclusive of labour parts & testing. It is surprisingly common for the laptop DC power socket to become damaged or detached from the motherboard of laptops. We keep the most common sockets sizes & types in stock for a fast turn around, and can source less common sockets where needed. Your laptop is stripped down to the bare motherboard. Damage to the laptop is then assessed. Assuming only the socket is damaged and the motherboard is fine, then your socket is cleaned and resoldered on, or a replacement socket is soldered on. Allow 2 days turn around (for sockets types kept in stock - longer for less common parts), although we can sometime do the job quicker. Phone us to discuss your requirements.

Laptop: replacement of cracked or damaged LCD screen J100 - J180 (depending on screen needed). Inclusive of labour, parts & testing. Has your screen been cracked, or damaged in some way? We can order you a replacement screen for your exact model (in your choice of Matte or Glossy). The replacement screen is then fitted and tested, and your restored laptop returned.
