If your computer has a hardware problem, I can replace the defective part (eg hard disk) with an equivalent or better one. In the case of a hard disk that needs replacing, I may be able to transfer the data from the old disk, but this cannot be guaranteed so frequent backups (eg onto CD) are always a wise precaution.
